Ok. So I figure that I should
start at the beginning. What is it I plan to do here; my mission statement I
guess you could say - 'cause I have never had one before and it sounds a bit
like a NASA thing...?
So, this blog is here for me to
talk about music.
Music is something I love. Many types;
some obvious - some not so much. And I want to get all the thoughts I have down
on cyber-paper for all to share. Maybe it will be cathartic. Maybe it will be
something to remind of the things I love and loved as my memory gets worse. And
maybe it will just be me. That's fine. Sometimes you just have to get this
stuff out.
So, what I will stick up here is
my thoughts on music. It may be a song, an album, an artist, a gig or collection
of gigs. Whatever it is, I want to get down how it fits into my life. What it
means to me. How it reminds me of a time, a place, a person.

So, some examples of what to expect will follow to give you an idea of
what this blog could be about:
It will no doubt include a blog about the shear immense feeling of
happiness I get when I hear dEUS
playing Suds & Soda live. With memories
of friends, stand out gigs and peeing next to Mauro Pawlowski in the Roadhouse in Manchester, UK, when he was
playing with the Evil Superstars.
Or laughing aloud when, on entering a Garbage gig with Emily,
I hear Bis playing their song Kandy Pop fresh of their 'landmark' gig
on Top of the Pops as the first unsigned band to play on the show. And how I subsequently
chose Bis over Metallica at a festival and loved every minute of it.
How most of the songs on Brendan
Benson's My Old Familiar Friend could
have been written about me at the time.
How Shady Lane by Pavement will always remind me of
getting lost with my friend Tony
when headed to visit Reena
in Leicester.
Or how the Flaming Lips
just make me sad and happy at the same time, and I love them for it.
And other stuff. Lots of other
stuff with stories that will relate to music and will hopefully be amusing, or
at least a little entertaining.

And I hope it is interesting. I write
dull science stuff, and I want to write something for me. So fingers crossed it
will get getter as time moves along. Maybe it will get worse. And it may be my
friends reading. It may be just me in 10 years time. Who knows? But this is
what music means to me and I am putting out for the cyber world to swallow.
Oh, I would love comments. But idiotic
comments made by trolls will go. Simple as. If I like a song and you don't -
well - I don't care. This is my head your reading.
Enjoy, and cheers :)
